While we look forward to meeting many of you at our annual Study Tour in Barcelona at the end of the month, this month's newsletter includes some inspiring reading on the role of cities in testing and implementing alternative models for waste prevention. As well as further opportunities we have to learn, from upcoming webinars to new stakeholder advisory groups.

What does a reuse system look like in cities? | |
In Brussels these days, discussions over the soon-to-be amended main EU legislation regarding packaging waste are heating up. The original ambition of the text, to catalyse action on reuse, is being challenged and minimalised.
Whilst we are continuing to push for clear reuse targets and requirements at the EU level, at ZWE we’re also pursuing a strategy that showcases how effective reuse systems and models can be implemented at the local level to bring about positive change. We’re working with a host of pioneering European cities and our members, through projects such as RSVP and ERIC, to test and build reuse models to prevent the flood of plastic waste generated in towns and cities.
Reuse will be at the core of our local implementation work for years to come, pushing others to recognise the need to go beyond just recycling. Find out more about our reuse work with cities in this blog by Jack McQuibban, Head of Local Implementation at ZWE.
